XML sitemaps can be very handy especially when uploaded to Googles webmaster tools.

Submitting a sitemap to google and the webmaster tools they offer can be very beneficial. The whole point of this is to get google to scan specific pages and to get them scanning and getting content on any pages which may not be discoverable or not as obvious. By adding specific links to this xml sitemap you can be certain once verified, google will grab all the content on here and this can help you with your ranking and to get more information onto google from your website.

Instructions

Below are the steps to set up your sitemap.

• Download and save the file to your desktop.
• Once downloaded right click on the compressed file and extract all.
• Right click and open the sitemap.xml file in notepad or another text file and alter all of the default links to your own pages.
• Once you have set your links and priority then upload your sitemap to your server and login to the google webmaster tools.
• Click on the sitemap option in the webmaster tools and then upload your sitemap to google and follow the verification steps.
